We flip your crepes and blend your fruit.
Funny story. While pouring over Coastal Living (my secret love that is basically you-wish-you-were-this-rich-so-that-you-could-live-on-this-beach porn) I came across a piece about the Road to Hana. I pretty much drooled over the entire article and fell in love with every picture that went along with it. There was one picture, though, that made me ggaaaahgghghg all over the place. It was of this little crepe and smoothie stand called Huelo Lookout on the side of the road to Hana. It looked ridiculously adorable and I immediately ran to Ginny and said, "This!! I want to play on the beach and work at this smoothie stand!" She freaked out too because seriously, how awesome would it be to just live in Hawaii, play on the beach and sell smoothies to people?? The answer to that question is SUPER awesome. I honestly started praying that we would be able to work at a little place like that because that would just be idyllic. Yes it would.
Flash forward 6 months to me researching farms to live and work on in Hawaii. I found this incredible little farm on Maui called Huelo (that name seemed so familiar...) In addition to working in the garden on the farm we would also be working at the farm's smoothie stand! I freaked out because if we could work there it would be just like what we wanted when we saw that picture in Coastal Living! I emailed the manager and tra la tra la! We are now working there!
Knowing that Huelo would be our home for the first few months of our time in Hawaii I started Googling pictures and found all these great photos of the farm's smoothie stand called Huelo Lookout. (You can see where I'm going with this...) Something clicked and I realized why the name Huelo seemed so familiar..because I'd freaking seen it 6 months before! I pulled the Coastal Living magazine out of the recycling bin and found that article on the Hana Highway. HA! It was the exact same place!!! We are going to live and work at our fantasy fruit stand! Yes, "fantasy fruit stand" sounds dramatic but come on, if that's not God just handing us a sweet blessing then I don't know what it is.
And now because it is ridiculously dreary out right now and I want to cry because it's so cold, I leave you with this video:
If you ever find yourself asking "What will Betty and Ginny's life be like in Hawaii?" It will be like this. Hanging out with Sheryl and jumping on the beach while wearing jeans and playing guitar. Normal.

Blahghalahgalhgha future work place!

The Wanderlust
Yeah. It's happening. Ginny and I are FINALLY moving to Hawaii!! Anyone who knows us knows that this has been in the works for years. And I do mean years. I know there have been doubters along the way who thought we were all talk (you may now eat your words and feel deeply sorry for ever thinking we couldn't do it:)) but I can now officially say that we have purchased our tickets and we leave on January 13! God is awesome. He has finally opened all the right doors and we're going! BLAGHAHGHHHH!!!!!
We've always said that we hate the thought of dying in a world we haven't seen. God created the most incredible and diverse world and we aim to explore as much of it as possible. Plans for traveling the world will fall into place eventually but right now we're just freaking pumped that we get to live in Hawaii and be beach bums!
It all started 10 years ago when Ginny and I started reading the Abby books. They are about a girl and her family in the 1800's who live in Hawaii and sail around the world. We thought they would be Cheese-Fest 2010 but holy crap were we wrong. Pamela Walls, the lovely author, spins the most inspiring, page-turning adventure tales ever! Our minds pretty much exploded when we read these books. We realized for the first time ever that we didn't have to live ordinary lives. We could do whatever we wanted!! So basically we are going to be Abby and live in Hawaii and travel the world :)
We've made many, many, many plans for Hawaii over the years and were thisclose to going a few different summers but for what ever reason (read: God's will) the move never happened. But we waited on God and trusted that someday He would allow us to go. And now He has! AHHH! And really this is the PERFECT time. No school, no men, no obligations. Nothing is holding us back, but God is guiding us forward. And our family and friends (you guys! love.) are awesome and have shown us nothing but support and enthusiasm.
You guys all know that Ginny and I march to the beat our our own drum so we've always known that God has something special and different planned for us. Never satisfied with having a "normal" life we're running away from all that to follow God and go on the sweet adventures He has planned for us. Yay!

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Officially kissing winter goodbye. Peace out crappy weather!!

That is us running to our future in Hawaii and we are pumped. Our brother Mike is jealous that he's not running to Hawaii too. Poor Chiggsy.
